In the recently published Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2017, the UPC has maintained its position in the 101-150 range of the world’s best universities under 50. In Europe, the University is ranked in the 60-86 range, and in Spain, in the 5-7 range. Among the country’s technical universities, the UPC and the Universitat Politècnica de València are tied for the top spot. As in previous editions, the UPC scored highest on the “International Outlook” indicator. All of the University’s results can be viewed by clicking on the following link: goo.gl/uDYfh3.

The ranking, which in its previous edition was called the THE 150 Under 50, ranks the world’s best young universities. Institutions are excluded if they do not teach undergraduates or if their research output amounted to fewer than 1,000 articles between 2011 and 2015 (with a minimum of 150 a year).

This year, the number of institutions ranked has been increased to 200. The analysis of young universities is based on the same 13 performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings, but the methodology is adjusted to give less weight to the reputation of these institutions for teaching and research, a factor considered more relevant in the case of long-established universities. The performance indicators are grouped into five areas: Citations, Teaching, Industry Income , Research and International Outlook.
