200 ‘ICT women’ from around the world meet at the UPC for the womENcourage conference
From 6 to 8 September, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) is hosting the 2017 international womENCourage conference, a scientific and networking meeting in which over 200 students, researchers and professionals linked to the field of computer science will participate. The conference, which is being held in Spain for the first time, aims to be a meeting point for sharing professional experiences, success stories and debate on fostering vocations, especially those of women, in the field of computer science.

Over 200 attendees from all over the world, including students, researchers and professionals; more than 70 posters accepted, twice as many as in the previous edition; seven specialist workshops; a hackathon; a lecture by an internationally renowned speaker in the field of supercomputing; and several more lectures and talks. These are the figures for the ACM Celebration of Women in Computing, known as womENcourage 2017, which is being hosted by the UPC on the North Campus in Barcelona (Carrer Jordi Girona, 1-3) from 6 to 8 September. The conference is organised by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the UPC’s Barcelona School of Informatics (FIB).
