The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) is the driving force behind the UPC School of Professional & Executive Development, an excellent training school for technology professionals and executives in the fields of architecture, engineering, and information and communication technology (ICT). The School is located in the Tech Talent Center (c/Badajoz, 73) in the 22@ district of Barcelona.

The new UPC School of Professional & Executive Development, which is run by Joaquim Olivé, has a catalogue of training courses that include master’s degree, postgraduate and specialization courses and seminars. The programs enable professionals in these sectors to increase their specialized technical knowledge, acquire new skills in the field of project management and leadership and, in short, to establish successful careers.

In this high-quality, continuous learning center, the UPC provides technology professionals with new knowledge, the best experts in the field and the opportunity to share and learn in a space that is specifically linked to technology, companies and society. Knowledge, innovation, talent and networking are the concepts on which the UPC School is based, and which will enable it to become an international benchmark in training and a meeting point for architecture, engineering and ICT professionals. The UPC School ensures that its graduates have the highest levels of expertise in the technology sector. It also hones their talent, innovative ability and critical spirit.

The Tech Talent Center, in which the UPC School of Professional & Executive Development is located, has modern audiovisual equipment and resources to support teaching, as well as twenty classrooms and learning areas with a total capacity of over 500 people. The Center was created for technology-related innovation activities.

Professional and executive training

The UPC School of Professional & Executive Development’s team of professionals and lecturers are from the UPC, the university sector in general, and the business sector. The UPC School has focused its training programs on two main areas of expertise: professional programs for professionals who wish to specialize or complement their knowledge, and executive programs that are designed to develop the management skills of future executives. Currently, 140 programs are offered, including master’s degree, postgraduate and specialization courses, in the fields of architecture and town planning, civil engineering, industrial engineering, business management, sustainability and the environment, and ICTs.

Participants in these programs can use the Career Service. This advisory body helps students to improve their professional careers by developing their talents and providing advice on the job market.

In addition, the UPC School of Professional & Executive Development develops different tailor-made programs—from seminars to the establishment of corporate universities—to help companies and institutions to train their employees, so that the goals of each organization can be attained. Such programs are called Corporate Solutions.

Professional programs

These programs include master’s degrees and postgraduate courses aimed at technology professionals who wish to broaden, update and deepen their knowledge in the fields of architecture, engineering or ICTs. They help professionals to develop their careers by acquiring new knowledge and specializing. The aim is to ensure that participants have the highest level of expertise in the technology sector.

Executive programs

The executive programs provide knowledge for professionals who wish to gain new skills in the field of project management in companies and organizations in the innovation and technology sectors. They are aimed at facilitating learning and strengthening the skills and abilities needed for participants to take on new professional roles.

Corporate solutions

The Corporate Solutions Department of the UPC School provides companies in the technology sector with tailor-made training that helps them to find solutions to problems or to meet new challenges in different business contexts.

These comprehensive training projects are based on active participation and the exchange of knowledge and experience as the basis for developing the talents of staff and increasing competitiveness. The tailor-made training methods used at the UPC School vary according to students’ profiles, the subject matter and the needs of each organization.

A training consultant listens to a company’s needs and then provides information and advice on collaboration methods. Once the requirements have been defined, the UPC School offers the most suitable experts from the UPC to meet the company’s training needs. A training specialist from the UPC School ensures the rigor and quality of the program throughout the project.

Career Service

The UPC School’s Career Service provides advice to help each student to identify and attain their professional objectives, to discover their talents, skills and strengths, and to identify aspects that they can improve on. In addition, it helps them to boost their best skills in order to reach their goals in the job market.

The advisory team at the Career Service uses its experience, methods, knowledge and its relationships with the most important companies in the technology sector to work with UPC students on their CVs and together find the best way to put their talents to use.
