Raimon Jané, appointed new president of the SEIB
Raimon Jané, a researcher at the Biomedical Engineering Research Centre (CREB) and the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), has been appointed president of the Spanish Biomedical Engineering Society (SEIB).

Raimon Jané is the head of the Biomedical Signals and Systems Division of the CREB and the Biomedical Signal Processing and Interpretation Group of the IBEC, a research centre founded by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC), the University of Barcelona and the Catalan government. Jané will occupy the post for the next four years and will be the sixth president of the Society since it was founded in 1978.
The SEIB is the main scientific society devoted to biomedical engineering in Spain, its mission being to promote and facilitate contact between businesses, professionals, researchers and students working in this field. It is a member of international societies such as the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) and the European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering and Science (EAMBES) and acts as Spain’s representative in this field.
Jané’s appointment was made public at the Thirtieth Annual Conference of the Spanish Biomedical Engineering Society (CASEIB 2012), which was held in San Sebastian from 19 to 21 November.
