The UPC features for the first time in the general classification of the Shanghai Ranking
For the first time, the UPC has been ranked in the general classification of the Academic Ranking of World Universities, also known as the Shanghai Ranking. In addition, the UPC has improved its position in the field of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science, now ranking in the 100-151 range, and it has maintained the results of previous years in the subjects Mathematics and Computer Science.

For the first time, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) has been ranked in the general classification, in the 401-500 range, of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) compiled by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China.
In addition, the University has improved its results in the rankings by field. In the field of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science, this year the UPC has moved up to the 100-150 range from its position in the 151-200 range last year. In the subjects Mathematics and Computer Science it continues in the 151-200 and 101-150 ranges, respectively, as in previous editions.
The indicators and their weighting are adjusted to the particularities of each ranking. The bibliometric indicators are taken from the Web of Science database.

The Shanghai Ranking ranks the top 500 universities in the world in its general ranking and publishes ten additional rankings: five by subject (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and Economics and Business) and five by field (Natural Sciences and Mathematics; Engineering, Technology and Computer Science; Life and Agriculture Sciences; Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy; and Social Sciences). The indicators and their weighting are adjusted to the particularities of each ranking. The bibliometric indicators are taken from the Web of Science database.
