In the framework of 4YFN, the UPC presents its research groups’ cutting-edge technological innovations in mobile communications at its booth in the Catalonia-Barcelona section of the Montjuïc exhibition centre, where the meeting—which is a benchmark in the world of start-ups—is taking place.

The University is exhibiting its technological capacities in the fields of 4G telephony, software radio, mobile operating systems, MPLS and Ethernet, near field communication, optical technology, human-computer interfacing, WiFi, M2M technology and cloud computing, among others.

In the field of ICTs, the University holds the first position in the rankings of research for Latin American and Spanish universities, and has a complete and acknowledged range of related studies in this field, taught mainly at three UPC centers: Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria de Telecomunicació de Barcelona, l’Escola d’Enginyeria de Telecomunicació i Aeroespacial de Castelldefels i la Facultat d’Informàtica de Barcelona, which title year after year most of the professionals on telecommunications and informatics which are trained in Catalonia.

Furthermore, the UPC is one of the first universities in the number of registered patents and created spin-off within this field.
